Dr Elan Kaplan is a Melbourne based general surgeon. After extensive training in Australia, Elan Kaplan has come to learn that each patient is unique requiring tailored individualised treatment. With the skill and experience he has acquired from years of training, practice, and mentorship under some of Australia’s finest surgeons Elan Kaplan strives to provide the best possible outcomes for all patients. He has been working in the private sector for the last 10 years following working in the public system.
A major focus of his practice is hernia repair. He performs hundreds of hernias repairs each year. His practice involves routine and complex hernia repairs. These are repaired both via minimally invasive and open techniques
Elan Kaplan provides support and teaching to other consultant surgeons. He has had presentations at a number of international meetings and has a number of scientific papers published.
Experience
Elan Kaplan completed his Surgical training at the Alfred Hospital. He completed his Surgical Fellowship in 2011 on an Oesophagogastric and Upper Gastrointestinal Unit at the Peninsula Health. Elan Kaplan has published a presented a number of papers in world renowned journals and at international meetings.
Elan worked as a full time surgeon at Peninsula Health for the 2 years, during this time he treated over 2,000 patients and performed over 900 elective and emergency operations across a broad range of general surgery.
Elan Kaplan continues to attend major conferences in Australia and abroad & has continued close relationships with his colleagues. He constantly stays up to date with the developing treatments available and trends in Hernia Surgery, recently attendeding the 1st World Conference on Abdominal Wall Hernia Surgery.
